John Jacobs Retires From Phillips Industries

John Jacobs Retires From Phillips Industries

Santa Fe Springs, CA (July 1, 2014) Effective July 1, 2014 John Jacobs retires after thirty-two remarkable years as Vice President of Engineering for Phillips Industries.  John has created a tremendous legacy not only at Phillips but throughout the heavy duty industry with his innovative ideas and problem solving spirit.

Jacobs was instrumental in designing and developing many of the ground-breaking products introduced by Phillips since he joined the company in 1982. He holds ten patents for products that have solved problems facing truck fleet operators, many of which have become the industry standard.  Not only has Jacobs played an integral role in building Phillips Industries, he has also lent his support and knowledge to industry organizations including the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and the Technology Maintenance Council (TMC).

“John has really made Phillips what it is today” remarked Bob Phillips, past president and CEO of the company.  “His skill at intuitively seeing product solutions to everyday problems facing commercial vehicle operators has built the Phillips brand for innovative technology.  He will be missed by everyone at Phillips and all those in the industry who have crossed paths with him over the years.  We wish him well in retirement.”

In May, Phillips Industries announced the hiring of Dave Lajeunesse as Director of Engineering to move into the role held by Jacobs prior to his retirement.  Lajeunesse came to Phillips from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC where he was Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Services.
