With common single pole connectors the ground return path can be obstructed at the fifth wheel, causing power to flow through the white wire in the 7-way connector. This condition overloads the wire, leaving no power for the trailer lights or ABS or potentially causing permanent damage to the electrical system.
The Phillips Dual Pole solution provides a safe, consistent solution to recharging the battery pack in the trailer. The dual pole utilizes a ground wire as part of a ground return system. It removes the additional electrical load from the chassis or king pin 5th wheel, resulting in fewer electrical repairs. All dual pole cables have temperature ratings of -55°F to 230°F and have excellent ratings for recoil memory, and chemical and abrasion resistance.
