Phillips Celebrates its 75th Anniversary

Phillips Industries is celebrating its 75th anniversary as a leading supplier of parts for the trucking industry. The company was built on a signal arm. A patent was awarded to Phillips founder Hugh Phillips, who began selling truck parts to produce haulers in 1928. The company began manufacturing the reflective signal arm two years later, and this single product became the foundation on which the company’s success was built.

Today, Phillips Industries is a creator as well as a distributor of a wide variety of commercial trucking products, serving both OEMs and the aftermarket. The company is a vendor to virtually every major tractor and trailer manufacturer in the U.S., and a leader in the parts aftermarket.

“We’re proud that the company began with a commitment to superior customer service and has kept that commitment for three-quarters of a century” said Bob Phillips, the company’s CEO. The success of that effort was reflected in a recent customer satisfaction survey, which found that more than eighty-five percent of Phillips customers rated the company’s customer service and product quality as “superior.”Over the decades, Phillips has evolved from a distributor to an innovator and manufacturer of advanced-concept parts. “In many cases, the only way to meet our specifications was to build it ourselves,” says Phillips, “so we did.” Among the products bearing the “Made by Phillips” stamp are the QWIK-E™ Gladhand, which has sold more than a million units to date and the Sta-Dry™ line of water-resistant connectors, as well as a wide array of electrical equipment and wire assemblies that are manufactured in Phillips facilities.

Phillips leadership in quality and innovation as been recognized by numerous industry awards including Ford’s Q1, Freightliner’s Master of Quality Awards, PACCAR’s Preferred Supplier Award, Volvo’s ISO 9002 and the coveted industry wide QS 9000 certification.

Based in Santa Fe Springs, California, Phillips Industries has manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
